Do it yourself: flypaper

Make an ecological trap to fight the insects that bother you so much!

flypaper

It's not pleasant when, in the middle of a family lunch, there are lots of flies, just hanging around the pots and plates and bothering everyone. We have already talked about some traps to catch mosquitoes and flies. But these traps do not always work, so it is necessary to be well prepared for this battle, and adhesive papers to catch flies end up helping, a lot, in this task, especially if you place them in strategic places, such as windows or near plants that attract them (speaking of plants, six plants that act as a natural repellent).

But why bow to manufactured goods when we can make our own traps using things that could go to waste and are easy to find in any home? So, make a good note of the following materials to make the super homemade flycatcher adhesive paper!

Necessary materials

  • A long drugstore or bomboniere paper bag;
  • A small pot;
  • Scissors;
  • Paper punch (pencil/pen do a good job too);
  • String;
  • 60 ml of water;
  • 60 ml of honey;
  • 40g of sugar.

Procedure

First, cut the paper bag into four parts and make a small hole at the end of each. This little hole will be used to pass the string through it, so that it can be hung somewhere. Cut small pieces of string to tie each of the papers individually in a loop. Then place the water, honey and sugar in the pan at medium temperature and cook the mixture until everything is well dissolved, then turn off. Take the sheets of paper and dip them into the mixture, covering the entire length of the paper and on both sides (don't forget)!

After all the papers are completely soaked in the mixture, hang them on a clothesline or use another string to dry them. Leave something under them so the drops don't drip onto the floor - the mixture, as you can imagine, wouldn't please anyone who stepped on it, right? Leave them to dry for about half an hour.

After this period your papers can be used. Hang them by the string where you think flies or mosquitoes enter.

Be careful with children: hang the papers in high places otherwise the little ones can put them in their mouths and it certainly wouldn't be a good thing. Also be careful with your beautiful long locks; we don't want any hair to get caught in this natural glue!
