“Composta São Paulo” project aims to build a public policy to encourage the use of composters in the city

The project will be launched on June 16 and will feature the participation of volunteer families

The Composta São Paulo project, which will select more than 2,000 households of different profiles to receive a domestic composter, will be launched on June 16, next Monday. Participants will also receive guidance through composting and planting workshops. In addition to being part of an online community for exchanging knowledge and experiences, they will help generate fundamental information and learning for the definition of a public policy on domestic composting for the city of São Paulo.

This is an initiative of the Secretariat of Services of the City of São Paulo, through AMLURB (Municipal Urban Cleaning Authority), carried out by the urban cleaning concessionaires LOGA and ECOURBIS. The design and execution is by Morada da Floresta. The project is one of the actions of the SP Recicla municipal program.

Approximately 10,000 families will be invited to voluntarily participate in the Project, mainly from condominiums, schools and communities. Other interested families may apply through an online questionnaire available at www.compostasaopaulo.eco.br.

One of the main objectives of the project is to generate data for the construction of a public policy to encourage the practice of domestic composting in the city of São Paulo. For this, 3 surveys will be carried out throughout the project: the first on household habits, the second on the use of composting and, at the end, a third to verify and consolidate the changes in habits and the solutions found in each household.

The São Paulo Compost Community was also launched on Facebook to exchange knowledge and practices on composting. The idea is to create a horizontal and collective knowledge channel that is a reference in composting. The project invites those interested in the subject to participate in the community, contribute with questions and solutions for domestic composting.
