New furniture with old drawers

German design group innovates in the reuse of furniture with an artistic touch by reusing old drawers

furniture made from reused old drawers

A piece of furniture leaning against the garage at home, a loose drawer and... creativity. German designers took the initiative to bring all this together to form a space in the city of Hamburg that is an art workshop, a shop and a social center, all at the same time. What is sold in this place, called Entwurf-Direkt, is furniture made with upcycling of drawers and other antique objects.

Upcycle it's reuse, but not just that. It's about transforming an object into something new. Joining non-uniform drawers on a new wooden base, you get a surprising result. In addition to the practical function of a piece of furniture with several drawers (to store clothes or other objects), an aesthetic value is added to your home or work environment. All this without mentioning the main issue: reusing old drawers, materials that would end up in the trash, even though they were able to be used for a long time to come.

When reusing old drawers, the product footprint is reduced

If you have a minimal notion of woodworking, you can take a risk and give your home a new look, while avoiding wasting objects when reusing materials that would go to waste. The folks at Entwurf-Direkt give tips, just go to the “contact” section of the site here.
