Want to know how to get the smell of burnt out of the dirty microwave with that greasy tomato sauce that's been there since last week? The answer to this question is easy: use lemon! But it is not enough to microwave it and think that it will stay clean this way. There is a special step-by-step way to get rid of the burning smell of the microwave with this different and natural method!

How to get the burning smell out of the microwave

  1. Pour a cup of water into a microwave-safe glass bowl;
  2. Add the juice of a lemon to the bowl containing water;
  3. Place the peel and squeezed lemon in the same bowl;
  4. Take the bowl with all the ingredients to the microwave and turn it on high power for three to five minutes - or until the water boils;
  5. Wait two minutes before opening the microwave door. This is the most important part, as keeping the door closed will allow the steam to soften the greasy food particles. Plus, there's a bonus: the lemon steam will make your microwave and kitchen fragrant;
  6. Carefully remove the bowl of water and clean the inside of the microwave with a warm, damp sponge. The smell of burning, grease, stains and food remains will come off easily thanks to the lemon!
  7. Attention: be careful with the hot water from the microwave. If it is too hot the bowl could explode! And if you don't wait to cool down for two minutes with the door closed, you won't get the expected results and you still run the risk of getting burned.
