Peeing in the sea is allowed by scientists

Don't get too tight: peeing in the sea doesn't cause problems for nature, says scientist. The sewage yes

Who has never been cramped on the beach and seen at sea the option of a “bathroom” closer and without queues or minimal consumption? Many parents forbid their children to pee in the sea when trying to teach them to respect nature. But scientists claim that this is not harmful to the seas or the animals that live there, not least because they also excrete in the water.

Human urine is composed of water, around 95%, and various salts. Chloride and sodium contribute approximately 1 to 2 grams per liter (g/L) of urine, while creatinine has an index of 0.7 g/L and urea, 9 g/L.

Although urine resembles the sea in its composition, creatinine and urea are not found in the water we swim in, as these substances are used by the body as a route to eliminate nitrogen. This element is very important, as it takes on the role of fertilizer in the seas and promotes the survival of various plant species.

The elimination of urea, as it occurs in greater quantity, raises doubts about the consequences. But Dr. Stuart Jones, an English specialist, says that even if the entire world population, approximately 7 billion people, urinated at the same time, releasing 3 grams of urea into a single ocean, the total urea concentration would be small compared to the volume of water. Therefore, it would be diluted.

A whale, which is, on average, 16 times the size of human beings, excretes 970 liters of pee a day. In other words, it contributes 23 times more than humans to the amount of chloride and sodium account. But of course animals don't dump some substances into the seas that we, unfortunately, still discard in the wrong way.

Some studies have shown fish effeminate behavior due to hormones used in contraceptives that reach water bodies through sewage. And also differentiated behavior due to the animals' exposure to anxiolytic drugs, also mistakenly discarded. Furthermore, excess nitrogen in the water, due to human actions, causes eutrophication, which can lead to death in many animals.

Anyway, prefer to urinate in the bathroom, even more if you use medication daily.
