Discover the world's first recycled shopping mall

Shopping center sells only reused items, inviting users to rethink their consumption patterns

Recycled Shopping

Sweden opened the world's first shopping center dedicated solely to the sale of recycled products, the ReTuna Återbruksgalleria, which has been successful in the city of Eskilstuna, about 100 km from Stockholm. Since 2015, the mall has received donations of objects, clothes and electronics that people would throw away and send them for repair or reuse and subsequent sale.

The space has 5 thousand square meters and has 14 stores. There are commercialized clothes, furniture for decoration, household items, refurbished electronics, sporting and clothing items. There is also an organic restaurant and a conference centre.

Recycled Shopping

Sweden is one of the world's biggest recyclers: around 99% of residential waste is reused - half of it is turned into energy and the other part recycled. Shopping for recycled objects is an innovative idea that calls attention to a new form of consumption. In 2016, ReTuna sold 8.1 million SEK (about R$3.1 million) in recycled items, in addition to having already created 50 new jobs.
