Oasis Project, an initiative to protect the environment

The project aims to reward landowners with a history of preservation

Carried out by Fundação Grupo Boticário, the project, which is a pioneer in Brazil, aims to financially reward landowners who have historically conserved their natural areas and springs. This is done using the Payment for Environmental Services (PSA) tool.

The project presents a model that has a flexible methodology, capable of meeting different social, economic and environmental realities. Composed of an implementation manual and an online project management system, which are transferred free of charge to entities - city halls, river basin committees, consortia, companies, among others - committed to implementing the project and signing a term of commitment with the organization.

With this, Fundação Grupo Boticário guides and monitors the implementation process, acting as a technical partner. It is up to the executors to seek funding sources to make the project viable and to pay financial awards to these landowners.

The intention is to disseminate the mechanism throughout the country, encouraging governments and other institutions to invest in the initiative and multiplying efforts in favor of the environment.
