Some types of clothing come from the factory with the recommendation that the wash occur dry. You might think that purchasing these pieces might be sustainable as water and soap uses decrease, but the chemicals needed for traditional dry cleaning can be harmful to your health.

However, it is possible to take some less harmful alternatives into account. Check out how to do dry cleaning without harmful chemicals:

brush clothes

Brushing clothes is an easy way to remove oil from the surface of the garment. Use a brush (like shoeshine shoes) with soft bristles or a microfiber cloth and brush your clothes slowly.

wash manually

Some clothes, such as sweaters and unlined garments, are very delicate and do not resist the chemicals used in conventional dry cleaning. The best thing to do is hand wash with mild soap and make sure you don't stretch the pieces too much during the wash.

use vodka spray

Do you have any leftover vodka in your house? You can put it in a spray bottle and apply it to your garments. The alcohol in the drink kills odor-causing bacteria (see other unusual uses of vodka).

use steam

Hot steam destroys the bacteria causing the bad odor. Even so, on a daily basis, it is a little complicated to use the steam from the shower or other household appliances to carry out this type of cleaning. One option is to purchase a steam washing machine.

Rethink your wardrobe

If you have a lot of clothes that need to be dry cleaned, how about starting to acquire another style of clothing that doesn't need such specific maintenance? Clothes made with organic fibers are a good choice.
