portable filter

O MSR Guardian is a portable water purifier that features advanced technology as well as being easy to use and carry. It was made to be used anywhere in the world, on trips, hiking, camping, getting clean drinking water quickly from almost any source.

The equipment works with great speed; it filters 2.5 liters per minute, has an automatic cleaning system and removes viruses, bacteria, protozoa and particulate matter without using chemicals or energy, according to its creators. This is the big difference between the system and others on the market, such as the Solvatten, purifier that needs sunlight as it is the UV rays that eliminate microorganisms. It takes two to six hours to purify 11 liters.

Another positive aspect of MSR Guardian is the duration of the product; it can filter up to ten thousand liters before changing the filter. Its material is also quite resistant even when frozen. The effectiveness of filtration is due to a hollow fiber membrane that holds back the smallest threats.

The use of this equipment also has advantages for the environment, since avoiding the use of plastic bottles and using dirty water that would not be used for consumption are good attitudes.

All these advantages have a price, which is still quite high, around US$ 350. The product is only sold in the United States.

Studies of this technology could be aimed at application in poor countries that are deficient in drinking water. Not having access to clean water is one of the world's main problems - around a billion people in the world lack access to clean water sources.

With a filter that doesn't require energy, chemicals or a specialized technique to operate, many would be able to use and get clean water. Check out the video of using the MSR Guardian on a trip to Peru to better understand how it works.
