Pilo: the battery recharged by kinetic energy and that lasts "forever"
Rechargeable battery lasts a hundred times longer than traditional ones
Due to the heavy metals contained in its composition, the portable batteries we use for remote control and other intermittent energy devices represent a big problem for the environment when disposed of incorrectly.
For this reason, many initiatives have emerged to create more eco-friendly batteries. In 2007, for example, Japanese batteries were launched that could be recharged with liquids and lasted up to ten years. However, a new invention promises batteries that last “forever”.
The innovation, dubbed Pilo, consists of AA batteries recharged by kinetic energy and with a lifetime one hundred times longer than traditional ones. So, just shake Pilo for three seconds to recharge it. In addition, being free of substances harmful to the environment, Pilo is clean and can be recycled.
Second, Nicolas Topper, CEO of the French startup, the idea that gave rise to Pilo was very simple: Topper needed to turn on his TV on a day when he had no battery working. This type of battery recharged by kinetic energy has been around for some time, however, Pilo stands out for having reduced the time required for movement.
The project was presented at the Paris Founders Event , an innovation event that takes place in France at the end of July and, in the beginning of October, it has already started to be sold. Pilo's pre-order can be made through the company's official website and has a cost of ten euros. Manufacturers promise that the charge will only be made when the product is delivered.
