Innovative technology can reduce energy waste

EnviroGrid is easily installed and available on the market.

Waste of electricity isn't just a problem for the pocket - it's also a problem for the planet. The burning of fossil fuels, and their consequent release of greenhouse gases, the construction of hydroelectric plants and CO 2 emissions associated with decomposition of vegetation in vast wetlands, as well as the risks associated with nuclear power plant activities such as accidents in Chernobyl or Fukushima are some of the examples of impacts on the environment related to energy generation.

With this in mind, researchers from the company Regen Energy developed the EnviroGrid, a device that, connected to the electrical system, manages electricity costs. The product helps to distribute electrical energy intelligently, without the electrical system reaching its limit unnecessarily.

This is done by collecting data about the energy demand made by the devices, which send their information to a computer program over a wireless connection. From there, a system that optimizes the distribution of electricity is created.

The creation of this technology was inspired by what researchers call “swarm logic”, which is the way bees communicate and coordinate their activities through simple rules. The company claims that the product can provide savings between 5% and 10%. Another example of the use of biomimicry to help man live more sustainably.
