DIY: rustic sliding door from pallets
Your house will look different with this new accessory
Missing playing Lego? Do you like to reuse objects? Do you want to make your home more beautiful and stylish? If you answered yes to all the questions, it's time to learn how to make a sliding door out of pallets.
Project execution is extremely simple. Just dismantle the wooden structures and reposition your parts. To facilitate this process, there are some drawings that show this step by step.
The materials needed are:
- 2 reused wooden pallets (sizes may vary, but ideally it should be the model with the largest number of slats - the one used in the material is 1 m × 1 m);
- 1 drill or screwdriver;
- Some screws with nuts and washers;
- 1 wood saw;
- 1 square;
- Some wood sandpaper;
- PVA paint, varnish or bitumen;
- Sliding door kit (the most expensive item in the package).
The first step is to disassemble the pallets and organize all parts by type. Once this is done, recover the upper and lower slats by sanding, painting or varnishing. Once you have all the pieces recovered, it's time to position them, drill them and screw them so that they are well fixed and the correct size. The three pieces that will make the connection between the slats should be cut to fit the size of the vertical pieces joined together (this will vary according to the size of the door).
The second step is to fix the sliding door kit on the wall and on the top of the door with the aid of a square (pay attention to the heights of the door and the rail and don't forget to leave a small gap between the door and the floor) . Then just fit the door with the brackets fixed to the wall rail and your rustic door will be ready.
