Very popular among Brazilians, papaya is a great option for a healthy and natural diet. Both Formosa papaya (large) and papaya are rich in vitamins A and C and have large amounts of lycopene and beta-carotene, substances that work to combat free radicals, benefiting the health of the skin, eyesight and heart.

Papaya also has riboflavin, called vitamin B2, which helps to reduce stress and preserve the nervous system. Very rich in fiber, the fruit facilitates digestion and is good for preventing constipation. Papaya also proved to be efficient in inhibiting intestinal cancer cells, according to a study carried out at USP.

In addition, papaya can be consumed without worry by those on weight reduction diets, as it contains only 39 calories for every 100 grams of fruit. Versatile, it is also possible to consume the seeds of the fruit, which give a spicy flavor if added to food, and the papaya leaves.

Papaya - natural, cooked or liquefied - can be used as a laxative and diuretic if consumed early in the morning. The consumption of papaya juice mixed in equal proportion with honey works to combat parasites and worms. The mixture should be taken at the beginning of the day, on an empty stomach. Green Papaya Syrup

Ingredients:

  • a green papaya
  • Anise
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • star anise
  • clove

Method of preparation:

Cut the end of the papaya and remove its seeds, in order to make a kind of cup with the fruit. Keep the "lid". Add the spices to taste inside the fruit along with a cup of honey tea and bake over a low heat. Remove the papaya when its skin turns brown and strain the liquid. Store the mixture in a sterile glass. Consume no more than four times a day.

Natural laxative

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium slice of papaya
  • 3 pitted black plums
  • 1 tablespoon of crushed flaxseed
  • 1 glass of orange juice

Method of preparation:

Beat the papaya, plums and orange juice in a blender until you get a smooth mixture. Add flaxseed and drink.

Rejuvenating Mask

Ingredients:

  • a quarter of papaya papaya
  • Honey
  • 1 grated carrot

Method of preparation:

Mix the ingredients until uniform and apply on the face for 30 minutes, then remove with boricaded water.
