Pesticides are not good for anyone, but Brazil is still the country in the world that consumes them the most. However, there are alternatives to them and that is what filmmaker Silvio Tendler tries to show in his new documentary, "O poison is on table 2", released in April, in Rio de Janeiro.

The film is a continuation of the production launched in 2011. With 70 minutes of duration, the new film seeks to deepen the deconstruction of the myth that the use of pesticides is essential to ensure an abundance of food for the consumer.

The two documentaries are part of an action strategy of the Permanent Campaign against Pesticides and for Life, an initiative that brings together social movements and entities with the common objective of sensitizing the Brazilian population to the risks that pesticides represent not only for consumers, but also for rural workers and for nature.

"The poison is on table 2" had the support of the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), which develops initiatives to enable the production of food without poison. To Agência Brasil, Tendler stated that the film shows how healthy plantations are developed and the great difficulty that such producers have to sell their merchandise.

As with the other film in the series, the new production will be distributed free of charge to an alternative exhibition circuit, which takes into account schools, universities, communities, churches, rural workers' settlements, among others.
