On September 15th, the world cleansing marathon will be held World Cleanup Day (World Cleanup Day).
To date, millions of volunteers in 150 countries will unite with their energy, goodwill and concern for the environment to clean their countries of pollution caused by waste.
In Brazil
This citizen-led global action will unite local communities that are struggling with the challenges of poorly managed and discarded waste such as that dumped into illegal dumps that end up on beaches, rivers, forests, streets and land. Here in the country, Instituto Limpa Brasil is responsible for organizing and coordinating actions in the national territory (www.limpabrasil.org).
Dozens of Brazilian cities such as Salvador, Recife, São Paulo, Fortaleza, Maceió, Belo Horizonte, among others, will be with their volunteers participating in this great action of global citizenship.
The cleansing marathon will start in Fiji, in the South Pacific, where daylight will break, and then across the planet until it reaches Hawaii, in the United States.
The event will involve tens of millions of residents, from small rural villages to the largest megacities in the world. In some countries the participation will be up to 5% of the population.
To give people the opportunity to ask questions and openly discuss this event, a Q&A session entitled:"Frequently asked questions about World Cleanup Day" or in Portuguese "Frequently Asked Questions about World Cleanup Day" which is hosted on the Twitter channel @letsdoitworld.
The idea is that the company will cover a number of key issues with local cleaning organizers from around the world. All are welcome to participate. use the hashtag #FAQ_WCD to follow the conversation or present additional questions to discuss.
The action is being driven by the global initiative let's do it! That started cleanup actions in 113 countries over the last decade, with the participation of more than 20 million volunteers in total.
The movement started in Estonia, a small country located in northern Europe in 2008, when 50,000 people gathered to clean up the entire country in just five hours. Therefore, the headquarters of World Cleanup Day 2018 will be in Tallinn, capital of Estonia.
From there, updates will be made on the development of cleaning actions around the world in the 30 hours that they will be carried out in every corner of the planet. The World Cleanup Day team will be on hand to show you what's happening in all 150 countries by distributing regular updates on the latest statistics, publishing country cleanup news and social media feeds, as well as a live online TV show , produced online directly at headquarters.
The broadcast will include live video links from the locations of the actions and interviews with their organizers. Live streaming will be possible on multiple platforms such as Youtube, Facebook and through the worldcleanupday.org website.
