Choosing to consume slimming teas in a natural, home style can be a healthy alternative. Check out our list and put into practice the habit of consuming slimming teas.
1. Green tea
Green tea is one of the most widely known teas, and its consumption is associated with several health benefits. It is also one of the teas that help you lose weight.

There is evidence to show that green tea consumption is associated with weight and abdominal fat loss. In a 2008 study, 60 obese people went on a 12-week diet of green tea and a placebo.
Over the course of the study, people who consumed green tea lost 3.3 pounds more than those who consumed the placebo.
Another study found that people who consumed green tea extract for 12 weeks lost more weight, body and abdominal fat compared to those who didn't.
These results may be explained by the presence of catechins and natural antioxidants, which can help to lose weight due to the acceleration of metabolism and fat burning.
2. Red tea pu erh
Also known as pu'er or puerh tea, pu erh red tea is a type of Chinese black tea that undergoes fermentation.
Pu erh tea is usually enjoyed after meals and has an earthy aroma that tends to be more intense the longer it is stored.
Some animal studies have concluded that pu erh has the property of reducing blood sugar and triglycerides and increasing weight loss (see studies here: 1, 2).
In another study, men who ingested pu erh extract capsules for three months lost one kilogram more than the group of men who did not.
Another study done with rats came to similar results, showing that the pu erh tea extract has anti-obesity effects, preventing weight gain.
These studies used the pu erh extract. Tea, on the other hand, does not yet have many studies that prove its effects on weight loss, and further analysis is needed.
3. Black tea
Black tea is also on the list of slimming teas. One study showed that drinking three cups of black tea a day increased weight loss and reduced waist circumference.
The slimming property of black tea can be explained by the present of flavones, a type of plant pigment with antioxidant properties.

One study found that people who ingest more flavones from foods and beverages like black tea have a lower body mass index (BMI) than those with a lower intake of flavones.
However, this study only analyzes the association between BMI and flavone intake, and not the relationship between these two variables, and further research is needed to explain other factors that may be involved.
4. Oolong tea
Oolong is a traditional Chinese tea that has a fruity aroma and unique flavor. Also, according to some studies, oolong tea helps you lose weight as it increases weight loss through fat burning and metabolism acceleration.
In one study, 102 overweight or obese people drank oolong tea every day for six weeks and experienced reduced fat and body weight. According to the researchers in the study, this was due to the acceleration of metabolism.
Another small study looked at men who drank water or tea for a period of three days, measuring their metabolic rates. Compared to water, oolong tea increased energy expenditure by 2.9%, equivalent to burning 281 more calories per day, on average.
5. White tea
White tea is also one of the slimming teas. However, it stands out among other types of tea because it is minimally processed and harvested while the tea plant is still young. Its flavor is subtle and sweet.
Some studies claim that white tea improves oral health and even kills cancer cells (see studies here: 3, 4). In addition, white tea increases the breakdown of fat cells and has a significant amount of catechins, which help to lose weight through weight loss (5, 6, 7).
6. Herbal tea
Herbal tea differs from traditional teas in that it does not contain caffeine and is not made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis.
Popular herbal tea varieties include rooibos tea, ginger tea, rose hip tea and hibiscus tea.

In an animal study, researchers gave obese rats an herbal tea and found that it reduced body weight and helped normalize hormone levels.
A test tube study showed that herbal tea increased fat metabolism and blocked the formation of fat cells.
