A desk that turns into a bed is an asset to avoid traffic jams

With low environmental impact materials, the designer innovated in her creation and produced something multifunctional

Table

Greek designer Athanasia Leivaditou of Studio NL created the "1.6 SM of Life", a desk that transforms into a compact bed. With measures of 2 m x 80 cm x 80 cm, the prototype took about a month to be conceptualized and built, and it is enough to show that it is possible to combine two pieces of furniture into one thing. These dimensions may vary depending on buyer preference.

His inspiration came while Athanasia was studying and working in New York. During this period, she realized that a certain portion of the population that works in the city concentrates much of their time in closed spaces, for example, offices.

Therefore, one of the designer's goals with this creation was to solve the problem of lack of sleep for those who have a busy schedule. With the "bed table", the user works as much as he wants and, when he feels sleepy, it takes a minimum time to assemble his bed. A good challenge for the project was to build the object with simple raw materials, such as wood (as long as it was certified), aiming to use materials that would cause the least possible environmental pressure. The inspiration came from New York, but the production was made in Greece, in 2010. In the prototype, an LED television is also attached.

The "bed table" can also be useful to avoid the "rush" time on the way home from work. The opposite is valid, workers who do home office can also be interested in the object at the time of a quick nap. See below how it works:

Process

During the day, it's an office desk:

To turn it into a bed, it's simple. The table cover slides forward:

Then, just push down the front board (which is perpendicular to the part that was slid) and which already has a bed attached:

For greater comfort, push the side board, which serves as a headrest:
