Five sustainable tips to make your bedroom more natural
Want to build or renovate your room? Take advantage of these tips and make it much more beautiful and pleasant
Thinking about building a new room, renovating the old one or changing the look of your corner? Take a look at these sustainable bedroom tips that are super easy to apply. In addition to making the aesthetic part of the place more beautiful, they also improve the sleep of those who will sleep there.
1. Painting
If you're going to paint the room, make sure the paints you're using aren't toxic. There are options for natural water-based paints, in addition to waxes, vegetable oils and natural resins with mineral pigments, which are much more recommended, as they do not leave a smell and do not use heavy metals. This will help your sleep a lot, as these materials do not cause the possible respiratory damage associated with common paints. If left over, know how to dispose of them.
2. Mattress
If you are going to change the mattress, prefer an organic model to a synthetic one, as the former are natural and environmentally safer. Check which manufacturers are committed to using the correct materials.
3. Organization and decoration
An essential part of anyone's sleep is their sleeping space. And it's not just the bed, but the room as a whole. A place with a lot of clutter, full of things that stimulate the mind, makes it difficult for anyone to sleep. Harmonious, serene and clean environments can help you sleep better.
Choose a color you like for your room, eliminate those nonsensical accessories that are just filling in space, and add little decorative items. Photographs just to fill the wall can be a great source of distraction, perhaps it is better to “meaningless” illustrations that create a cleaner atmosphere in your corner.
Also, make sure that scented materials, such as candles, are of natural origin (see How to Make Natural Flavors).
4. Fabrics
Use pillows, mattresses, sheets, blankets, comforters and bedspreads made with natural fibers. Nothing is more inviting and environmentally friendly than a bed with clean, fluffy organic cotton sheets. See why choose sustainable fibers.
Take care to avoid fabrics with added toxic coatings, dyes and chemicals. The best tip for bed covers are organic cotton sheets and blankets. To add color and style, use a light blanket across the bottom of the mattress. If you're going to throw away the old one, see how to dispose of it.
5. Floor
Where you step also counts. Give preference to floors made of wood, bamboo or concrete based on non-toxic paints, resins and varnishes, as well as carpets and rugs made with natural fiber.
