Organic stain creates paint made only with natural ingredients
Cocoa, annatto and saffron are some of the materials used by Mancha Organica in the production of its paints.
The Organic Stain is a startup Carioca that is bringing innovation to the paint market through the use of vegetable pigments such as cocoa, yerba mate, saffron and annatto. The paints are ideal for children and were developed by the company in order to reduce the environmental impact, since in the traditional paint manufacturing process many chemical products are used that cause problems for the environment and human health.
The objective of the company, which started in the Coppe/UFRJ business incubator, is that the paints developed are a tool for education and stimulation of the senses and motor coordination of children, in addition to promoting free play and helping to disseminate concepts of art and nature conservation. Mancha manufactures organic paints for paper and wood applications, but which can also be used to paint furniture, graphic materials and others.
The production of the four colors of organic paint became viable thanks to a crowdfunding campaign carried out at the end of 2017, which allowed laboratory tests to be carried out and the business to expand. Currently, Mancha Orgânica sells its products online and produces organic paint in yellow, red, green and brown, made respectively from turmeric, annatto, mate and cocoa.
Mancha Orgânica's paints are non-toxic, easy to clean and made 100% from vegetables, that is, they do not contain petroleum derivatives or plastic in their composition, as is the case with most paints available on the market. This means that children can handle organic ink as they wish, without this being a source of concern for parents, as there is no risk involved in contact with the mouth or skin - but Stain warns that inks are not food, although its appearance is tempting.Check out the video of the campaign carried out by Mancha to learn more about the company's proposal:
