BOPP is the acronym for the term in English bi-axially oriented polypropylene, which, in Portuguese, means biaxially oriented polypropylene film. This film is a type of plastic film found in snack packs, cookies, instant soups, cereal bars, PET bottle labels, Easter eggs, straw potatoes, and more. It is used because it is lightweight, easy to print and laminate.

  • PET bottle: from production to disposal

Typically, packages containing BOPP film are those colored on the outside and metallized on the inside, but they can also be transparent, opaque or matte. In many cases, when the package is made of BOPP, the identification is that symbol with three triangular arrows with the number 7, written "others". This means that the material is made from all kinds of plastic, and if it has that metallic look on the inside and colored on the outside, it most likely has BOPP film. Unfortunately, however, many packages simply do not have any indication specifically regarding BOPP. Not to mention that there are few recyclers who accept post-consumer material, as it requires a lot of cleaning work and, in the specific case of BOPP, which is usually found in laminated packaging, it is necessary to separate the layers. This makes recycling BOPP very difficult. So, if there are not enough conditions to recycle and if it is not possible to reduce consumption, what is left is reuse! Check out how to join:
