Have you ever heard of vegetable milk? Soymilk is the best known alternative for those who have lactose intolerance or who follow the vegan philosophy. The problem is that this option may not be ideal for everyone. A cheaper and easier option to make at home is oat milk, which also has health benefits such as eliminating fat and strengthening the immune system.

  • Is soy milk beneficial or bad?

Oat milk can be used for daily consumption. It is a great substitute for cow's milk in the preparation of recipes and vitamins. Because it is hydrated, beaten and strained oats, oat milk carries a fraction of the benefits of oats and its consumption is very good for your health.

Benefits of Oat Milk

Oat milk, in addition to being incredibly simple and cheap, also has health benefits. It is rich in fiber (both soluble and insoluble) that helps the body eliminate fats that can block arteries - important for those who want to lower cholesterol, improve intestinal flora, help strengthen the immune system and balance blood sugar levels.

  • Benefits of Oats
This vegetable milk is also rich in vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, vitamin E, B vitamins, copper, zinc, potassium, manganese, magnesium and iron, being a very suitable option for those with low iron content in their blood.

How to make oat milk

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rolled oat tea;
  • 3 cups of water tea;
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence (optional).

Method of preparation

  • Soak the oats in water overnight;
  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for approximately five minutes;
  • Strain the mixture with the help of a clean, fine cloth or a very fine sieve and refrigerate. If you like, add vanilla essence or sugar (preferably organic), according to your taste.

Once ready, the oat milk can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days, but the ideal is to consume it at the time it is made.

Tips

  • Use the oat residue left over from other recipes or even as a moisturizing face mask;
  • When exposed to heat, milk can thicken and be used as a substitute for cream (either cow or soy cream, which is more expensive) or corn starch;
  • Depending on how it has been strained, there may be a concentration of oats at the bottom of the container in which the milk is found. Don't worry, just shake it up and it's fine.
