The indigenous phytotherapy course wants to take you to the ancestral knowledge of medicinal plants used by indigenous peoples. The chief who teaches the course says that "at a time when the people are sick and the cure is not for everyone, it is urgent to seek natural treatments and remedies from our forest." The entire course is based on empirical knowledge of indigenous Tupi-Guarani and will be taught by cacique Catarina, the shaman Guaíra and the indigenous teacher Dhevan Kawin.

Catarina is an indigenous leader who emerged early in the struggles for her people. Little by little, he learned about medicinal herbs from his elders and from courses he took on his travels through Brazil. She was once a midwife and is now a chief in the Piaçaguera village, as well as a specialist in forest herbs.

Guaíra is the spiritual leader of the Tupi-Guarani people, he is the one who advises and cures. He is the shaman of the community and heals through his wisdom - not only the body but also the mind. Today, at age 70, he carries a baggage of knowledge about herbs, sympathies and life.

Since he was a child, Dhevan has been at his mother's side in her search for herbs in the woods. His gaze, curious and attentive, showed him how the use of herbs helped his people in healing, both body and spirit. This interest was shaped by the elders, by their reality in Brazilian villages and by their faith in herbal cures. He learned to give baths and massages to pregnant women and learned about the use of herbs for every need. Indigenous teacher since 2009, Dhevan Kawin was the creator of the booklet “Ywyrá Rogwé Ywyrá Rapó – rescuing traditional Tupi-Guarani medicine”, which aims to transmit Tupi-Guarani wisdom about forest medicine using plants and roots to younger people.
