Know how to wash dishes with little water

eCycle gives simple tips on how to wash dishes and avoid wasting water and detergent.

Washing dishes is a necessary evil. It is boring, it consumes time, water, effort and even electricity (when using a dishwasher), but it is an activity that cannot be avoided on a daily basis and uses up to 100 liters of water in a simple wash, if done without responsibility. However, it is possible to reduce the waste of water and chemical materials with a few simple actions that eCycle lists below. Check out:

Materials

If you don't have a dishwasher, buy a biodegradable sponge, like vegetable sponges (green and yellow sponges are difficult to recycle). Try to install an aerator on the faucet (it saves a lot of water) and use biodegradable detergent or stone soap (it lasts longer).

Organization of dishes and removal of excess dirt

The first step is to organize your dishes so that the cleanest items are washed first, so you can leave the dirtiest items in the sink and, as the wash water runs into the sink, the dirt from the dirtiest dishes softens. A good example is leaving a pan in the sink while you wash your cutlery. In addition, remove major dirt manually and without water.

Detergent Preparation

Instead of filling the detergent cup, separate a small container with water and put a little detergent in it or mix soap inside. In this way, it is possible to save the product in question, in addition to saving water – since there will be no excess soap in the parts.

washing

When washing starts, open the tap as little as possible. Too much water is no guarantee of clean dishes, and you can still get your clothes wet. Turning off the faucet when no parts are being washed is essential. Another tip is to lather up various items that can be washed together, such as cutlery and pots.

reuse water

With the water you have dropped in the pan, you can help to remove excess dirt from other parts or even clean long-life packaging and plastic films and make them suitable for recycling.

clean the sink almost to the end

When it's time to wash the last pieces, start cleaning the sink to use water.

Ready! Your dishes are clean and little water has been used. If you liked or have more tips on how to wash dishes using less water, leave a comment below.
