DIY: air deodorizer

Make the air of your home more pleasant

Preparation

Which environment is more polluted: indoors (indoors) or outdoors? Surprisingly, the first option is the "winner", according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The agency assesses that the air inside homes is two to five times more polluting than the air outside, even with the carbon dioxide expelled by cars. This is mainly due to the chemicals used for cleaning and air fresheners.

To make your air a little cleaner, the eCycle gives you a natural and sustainable recipe for a homemade air deodorizer. Check it out below:
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon or orange juice;
  • 1 lemon or orange peel;
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon;
  • 1 pot containing 2 ½ cups of water.

Preparation

After squeezing the lemon or orange, scrape the peel and boil the ingredients in water by adding a teaspoon of cinnamon. Ready! Now just let the aroma spread throughout your home. But if there is any “stubborn” smell, add a few tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture and repeat the procedure.

Why does it work?

This "combination" works because, when boiling cinnamon and lemon or orange peel, flavoring substances present in the fruit also evaporate with the water, spreading the pleasant aroma. The same happens with bicarbonate, which neutralizes very strong odors. But remember to purchase baking soda from a reliable manufacturer, as only then will you have the assurance that the product is natural and that it has not harmed the environment in its manufacturing process. You can buy it here at the eCycle Store.
