In Paraguay, global warming makes it possible to fry eggs on asphalt

Critical action on global warming made popular expression a reality

Who hasn't heard the expression "it's so hot you can fry an egg on asphalt"? The NGO World Wildlife Fund (WWF), together with the Oniria/TBWA agency, organized a critical action against global warming that had exactly this objective: using the asphalt of the streets of Asunción, Paraguay, as a stove.

At the invitation of the organizers, renowned Paraguayan chef Rodolfo Angenscheidt prepared eggs and bacon on a flat street in February, when the temperature usually exceeds 40°C.

When the food was placed in pans that were on the asphalt for a few minutes, it was prepared normally, impressing those who followed the action. Then the dishes were served by waiters from Rodolfo's restaurant.

According to the WWF, around 80% of Paraguay's native forests were cut down in the last 50 years, which destabilizes the local climate, generating peaks of heat and cold.

At the end of the action, the chef said that we can't live in a world that thinks it's normal that food can be made this formal.
