Kit turns bicycle accessories into lighting signs

Product has front LED lights to illuminate the cyclist's path, in addition to flashing to warn of their movements

Cyclist life in big cities is very complicated. Bikers need to compete for space with vehicles that weigh up to a ton, while the skinny one weighs at most 20 kg. Thus, who always ends up getting the worst is the cyclist, mainly due to the relatively low number of cycle paths in Brazil (see more here). In the middle of this dispute, the cyclist signals his movements with gestures to avoid accidents. Before turning somewhere, he stretches his arm in the same direction or signals with an open hand for the car to slow down. However, these signals are often not perceived by motor vehicle drivers.

In order to reduce these accidents and improve the visibility of bikes in traffic, the Quirky company has launched an interesting accessory. It's called "Quirky's Indicator". The kit contains a pair of rubber grips (accessories that cover the handlebars) to put on the bike. They have front and flashing lights in a compact design. Both lights are LED and controlled at the touch of a button. Just press it quickly to activate the yellow turn signals, or hold it for three seconds to turn on the white front lights. Each of the lights is located in a corner of the handlebars and anodized aluminum caps are required to hold the AA-type rechargeable batteries, which make the LED bulbs light up.

There is also a special key that prevents theft. All of this makes the product an important part of your security arsenal for years to come.

Greater car-bike interaction

The kit appears to allow cyclists to communicate with drivers in a safe and familiar way, through lighting signs, according to the manufacturer. It is a process of adaptation of the bicycles, as they now have lights similar to warning lights, headlamps, flashlights, arrow lights, brakes, among other common signs in automobiles. The difference is that, on a bike, you don't need as many lights as on cars. Just have one that signals your presence, a brake and one that indicates the side to which the cyclist wants to turn.

According to the manufacturer, it will be possible to walk more frequently at night because the white front lights will fulfill the function of lighting the path of those who are pedaling. And the road will become accessible to more people.
