Course in São Paulo teaches how to make closed terrariums

The meeting entitled "Plants suitable for terrariums: conserving terrariums for decades" aims to present the groups and species of plants that can grow in glass containers. During the activity, information will be given about the different groups of plants, about the differences between open terrariums and closed terrariums, in addition to the different types of lids and the influence of humidity on the glass containers. During the workshop, different types of glass with and without lids will be presented, the environmental influences that terrarium lids offer to plants, suitable substrates, variations in sunlight, watering and maintenance.

Through a practical activity, participants are invited to assemble a terrarium, an open or closed one with a lid (the participant will choose on the day of the activity), and observe the main steps in the process of building an artificial environment and which the elements necessary for the plants to have an excellent development. Each participant will receive a planting kit that includes glass, gravel, substrate for planting and plants for setting up the terrarium.

The activity minister Bianca Alsina Moreira works as a biologist and botanist. Graduated in Biological Sciences from Universidade Santa Úrsula (1995), Masters in Biological Sciences/Botany - National Museum of Rio de Janeiro - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2002) and Ph.D. in Plant Biodiversity and Environment by Instituto de Botânica (2007 ). He has experience in the field of scientific research in Botany, with an emphasis on Taxonomy of Phanerogamus, the area of ​​Botany that classifies and names plants. She works as a researcher and scientific consultant, in addition to teaching on the most different topics related to Botany and her academic background.
