Moldy bread is a waste of work, money, flour and other ingredients. And the worst thing is that often, when the bread bag is made of plastic and mold contaminates it, recycling is impossible. On the other hand, when the mold contaminated bread sack is made of cellulose, it is possible to make home recycling through domestic composting. However, the ideal is that the bread does not become moldy. And one way to avoid moldy bread is to store it in a suitable bread bag. Understand how:

Linen bag to avoid moldy bread

To achieve the mission of zero bread waste, an alternative is to replace the ordinary bread bag with a linen bag.

Linen is an inexpensive and perfect material for storing bread. Widely used by the French for centuries, linen was the ideal solution for storing bread before the arrival of plastics.

Another environmental benefit of using a linen bag of bread is that each time you buy bread at the bakery, you can take your linen bag to the baker to use as a replacement for the disposable bread bag. This way you will reduce your disposable waste generation.

Advantages of using linen as a bread bag:

  • Bread "breathes" better because linen allows air to pass through;
  • Keeps bread in the dark preventing the development of unwanted organisms;
  • The linen bread bag can be hung on a hook off the counter leaving more room for other items;
  • It is washable;
  • Keeps bread dry, which prevents mold growth;
  • It's portable;
  • Avoid using a disposable bread bag
