Bicycle made from wood can be more durable and eco-friendly

Wood is more durable than items commonly used to make bikes

Bikes are increasingly in fashion and there are already models made with different types of materials - one of them, oddly enough, is wood. The use of wood in the manufacture of a bicycle has a very positive effect because it has greater durability, is sustainable, biodegradable and has a low carbon footprint. In the production of a traditional bike, steel, aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber are used, which are extremely polluting and hostile to the environment.

Mechanical engineers and designers at Renew Bikes, who created the project, explain that wood absorbs the vibration of the ride better when compared to steel, aluminum or carbon, which makes pedaling smoother.

It becomes a viable option when the user understands why it is durable. Trees have a natural structural composition and are resistant to constant bending against the wind for a lifetime (for a tree like pine, it can be up to 5000 years old). Thus, wood has a remarkable durability when compared to steel and aluminum. Other companies that produce this type of bike, such as Connor Cycles, also ensure that the skinny becomes more durable when made using wood. When considering the use of material based on wood residues available for reuse or certified wood, it can really be considered a good option.

If you still keep your traditional bike, try not to dispose of them in landfills. There are interesting ways of recycling you can produce at home, check it out!
