Device promises to ease sedentary lifestyle

If your routine includes sitting for several hours a day, that's a problem. Staying in this position for many hours can bring several health hazards, such as spinal damage, joint difficulties, in addition to favoring the appearance of varicose veins and causing the muscles to become fatigued, starting to ache. An article published on the website of American College of Cardiology warns of other risks: staying more than five hours in the same position, for example, can increase the possibility of a heart attack and stroke, even if you exercise regularly.

It was thinking about all these problems that a project called cubii. Assembled by Arnav Dalmia, Ryota Sekine and Shivani Jain, who founded the Fitness Cubed, the device, which has the appearance of a small fitness machine, seeks to exercise the person's legs while they are seated working.

Designed specifically for use under a table, cubii it facilitates leg movements, providing a basic exercise to keep the blood flowing, and without causing any distraction for the person using the device. It also does not provide excessive sweating, which is common in other fitness equipment.

With a different, sophisticated design and available in two colors (classic and red), cubii, according to its creators, suits any workplace.

It has a portable and easy-to-carry cable, making it possible to take the device anywhere. With some levels of intensity, cubii burns more than 120 calories per hour. Comes with a mobile app that tracks your workout through revolutions of levels, distance, calories and more. The app connects wirelessly to the cubii and makes it possible to share your progress with family, friends and co-workers through social media.

And all the energy spent on exercise turns into electricity. It is possible to charge your cell phone and others gadgets via USB input connected to the device.

The project was successful in crowdfunding and is already in production. It is possible to order the appliance, but it can only be delivered in the following regions United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia. Let's hope that this idea arrives soon in Brazil.
