Rubbee: device to transform normal bike into electric

Perfect for those who want to ride faster but cannot afford an electric bike

Rubbee

A traditional bicycle that can be turned into an electric one at any time. Based on this objective, the Rubbee, an electric drive device that can be attached to any bike in a few seconds. After the quick installation, the user does not need to pedal as the impulse is generated by an accelerator.

Once connected, the device makes the bike have a speed of up to 25 km/h. In addition to the accelerator, a 20,000 milliampere-hour (mAh) battery is integrated into the mechanism, which has a total recharge time of two hours. The useful life of the device is over two thousand cycles, which means that it can be used and recharged every day for five years in a row.

On the front of the device, which was created by English developers, there is a rubber that meets the friction wheel. It provides maximum grip, with little wear on the bike's tire. It is in the friction wheel that energy is transferred from the device to the bicycle, through an electric motor, which allows power peaks of up to 800 W.

The power button acts as an on/off switch and has an integrated battery level indicator with a blue LED flashing corresponding to the battery charge status. And since Rubbee ensures constant force on the bike's tire, it's possible to put it on bikes with rear wheel suspension.

According to the creators of Rubbee, electric bikes are very heavy and expensive and, when purchased, force users to abandon the old models and practice aerobic exercise.

With this new device, people will continue pedaling around, but they will be able to let the bike "work alone" when they are tired. In addition, the device can be carried via a strap located on top of the device, and is not heavy.

This was another project launched on the collaborative funding website kickstarter. Rubbee got enough revenue to expand his production. For those interested in the product, it can be ordered on the official Rubbee website. Check out the video for more information and some screenshots.
